During the course of our first week in instructional design we had to defend the egg.  Through some group work we had to create a structure that would protect a raw egg from breaking when dropped from a specified height.  Our group drew a picture of what our design would look like and started to work on the structure. 

After the activity I thought about where we could have improved our design and what changes we could have made to it.  However on reflection I realised that there was one aspect of the task that we didn’t pursue and that was exploring the alternative ways of completing the task other than the way that we had agreed.  I acknowledge that there were only 15 minutes to complete this task and so it could be argued that there was no time to review anything once we had agreed on a plan.  However time constraints will always be a part of any project.  Using the ADDIE model there is a need to ensure that the Analysis stage of the cycle will pick up on all the various options that could be considered before making a final decision.  The exercise demonstrated to me the importance of looking at a number of ways that a problem can be solved whilst being conscious of time and the need to make a decision.
