Testing and introducing the technology
|
This is our link to introduce the technology. The corporate logo and branding just have to be added | This is one of the test links created to test the technology with the Head office and Branch office networks |
| We have decided to have a one day workshop with trainers to help them prepare for delivering a script to camera. The day will start with information about personal presentation and scripting and will continue with a practice and feedback session. The workshop will be run by Theresa Lowe, proposed plan for the workshop is shown here |
Using the technology for the Management Development Programme
The technology will be used to supplement and embed a Management Development Programme. The programme will run for 14 months and starts with a 2 day work shop. Following the workshop Managers will be required to log into Moodle each month and complete the activities outlined. | This is the recording used to show learners how to navigate the site. It uses the slides which are shown here on the left. The recording was completed by a manager who received coaching and feedback from the media expert while recording the module.Initially she had been uncomfortable with some of the previous recordings she had completed but felt that the final recording was of high quality. She also felt that her confidence had grown in her ability to deliver communications or training using this medium. |

These are the final scripts which were used in the recordings of the first set of modules for the Management Development Programme. These scripts have been revised to sound more like the spoken word and to ensure that presenters are more engaging. They were uploaded into auto cue. In some cases there was a need to make some further small changes during the recordings if it was found that presenters were tripping up on words or phrases. One of our findings has been that although it is necessary to have all scripts prepared as much as possible for recording it is necessary to be flexible enough to include some small changes on the day.
This is an example of one of the short modules recorded for the Management Development Programme. It took three recording sessions to achieve the level of quality desired. The recordings shown here are the second and third recording. The second recording which is the one on the left was left at review stage. There are a number of errors in it, most noticeably the typo on the front slide! Unfortunately the first recording was not retained. The final recording illustrates the improvements made on the second recording.
The trainer in these recordings had done recordings for another project and so was used to delivering training using this medium. However he felt that these recordings are the best that he has done in that his delivery reflects his natural delivery style.
Next steps for using the technology

| Here is a recording which I have completed for the June online activities. The lessons learnt from the first set of recordings have been implemented and we completed all recordings in half a day. While I had recorded a number of previous test links, this was the first time I had the opportunity to work with the media expert. I felt that her feedback really helped me and that my delivery is more engaging and natural than previous recordings. |
